After School Program (ASP) NEW HOPE CLASS

After School activity is that kind of organized program which invites school children to participate outside of the traditional school day and helps in their character development through the means of character education. This program can occur inside the school building or elsewhere in the community, for instance at the community garden, park, library etc. These activities play great role towards the children. Like giving children experience with leadership and dealing with adults. Its main aim is to try to establish the creativity by themselves and believed by proponents to be more successful in forth coming days.
NEW HOPE CLASS can be of great value in motivating the children towards their study along with their involvement in extracurricular activities which helps in all round development of the children. The main activities under ASP can be homework help, academic enrichment, recreation, physical fitness and life skills which will transform the world of learning. It will be the most supportive factor for preparing children for the 21st century with games, puzzles and activities such as teaching students by the means of storytelling, story writing, poem recitation, video class, success story sharing etc.
ADRF Nepal is established with the main motto which states, “We will forever keep the children’s genuine and clean smile”. Almost there were thirty six children of Shree Balkalyan Primary School, Balaju-16, Kathmandu. We started class dividing the children into three different groups according to their age and the grade they study. There was system of giving Tiffin before the class, for both volunteers as well as children. And other days, we just used to teach them and help them with their homework and did some revision classes. On Friday, we also started to provide Korean class to class 6 to class 8 students. But soon after it became progressive at Balkalyan School we extended our program up to Shree Bhumimata Secondary School, Tipchowk-7, Kavre; where we are supporting one hundred and fifty children who are supported by five volunteer teachers and other volunteers. Regularly, they are having regular classes as well as arts class, Korean Language class, sports class and character education class. We made the children play, sing and dance and so on. After all, the participant students of ASP were improving slowly and gradually in their classes, as per their teachers.
ASP consists of different educational activities:
Ø  Homework Assistance: After School Program that will provide an opportunity for assistance with any homework assignments and tutoring.

Ø  School is Cool: Year round reading campaign to help young people develop a lifelong love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children.

Ø  Mindset Development: Class sessions for both individual and group that focuses on positive reinforcement of goals and how to achieve, a mental motivation, mood that determines how you will respond to situations. This helps kid believe in their abilities and talents, so you are able to prove yourself over and over.

Above mentioned activities are the most essential elements of After School Program. It helps in the all round development of the children and encourage them to participate in reading and writing activities for long run and can be a sample for the saying “learn for fun”. The volunteers in ASP can be the university students because university students are the role model of the children. Finally, ASP helps the children become well rounded contributing members of their communities.
